I'm an illustrator and graphic design artist with five years of experience creating whimsical illustrations, patterns and stationery products. I'm also experienced in branding, pattern and print design.
I was born and raised in the lovely town of Pori, which is located in western Finland. I'm currently living with my watchmaker husband in the city that never sleeps, New York City.
I graduated as a Bachelor of Art & Design from Novia University of Applied Sciences in Turku, in 2012, where I studied textile and interior design. My graphic design skills are partly self-taught because of my interest in creating digital art and graphics already in my teenage years.
In our one-bedroom apartment in Long Island City, Queens, I have my workspace, where I create my art. Everyday I'm either drawing, painting or working on my illustration or product design digitally. When I'm not at my workspace, I'm spending time with my family, exploring the city, cooking, listening to true crime podcasts, at the gym, sketching or facetime-chatting my grandmother in Finland.
Ideas for my colorful creations come from my vivid imagination which, I've noticed, doesn't have an off-switch. I'm mostly inspired by vintage photographs, interesting color palettes, movies, music, nature, my childhood and my longing to my homeland, Finland.
I would describe my style as whimsical, cute, retro-inspired and nordic. When I design, I like to keep it fun and colorful. I think my design aesthetic appeals to kids the most, but I've found that a lot of adults smile of joy when they see my designs as well. Though my favorite color is pink, I like to experiment with all colors and keep my color palettes interesting. I absolutely love working with all kinds of textures in my designs.
